basics for Kids
Course Description
This course introduces primary school level students to the key STEM topics of physical computing and programming through a project-based learning approach. Students execute a series of mentor guided projects that utilises the hardware features of the Micro:bit and combine with code to create useful and fun artefacts.

Course Activity:

Understand the Micro:bit hardware consisting of various built-in sensors and output components

Learn to use the Microsoft Makecode coding platform to create and transfer code to the Micro:bit
-
Use the simulator in Makecode to test code before uploading into the physical Micro:bit
-
Control the 5 x 5 LED matrix on the Microbit to create different shapes and patterns
-
Output sensor readings on to the LED matrix using code
-
Create, code and play music tones and melodies using the Microbit's built-in speaker
-
Read the sound sensor values on the Micro:bit to create and code appropriate responses

Learn to use the touch logo and touch pins of the Micro:bit in various projects
-
Learn to output messages and data from the Micro:bit onto a computer screen

Control one Micro:bit with another using the radio communication feature
